Chess  classes are open to students in grades K-12 and to all levels of skill and experience. Students must be ready to take this class seriously. Students will learn the fundamentals of the game and will have opportunities to compete in local and regional tournaments.

So far in 2013 the chess club has brought home 1st and 3rd place team trophies from the PECO/ASAP Checkmate Violence Tournament at Temple University, a 1st Place Team trophy from The Pennsylvania State Scholastic Chess Tournament in Carlisle, PA, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies at the ASAP Phillip Lindy Saturday Chess tournament series.

All classes are instructed by Mr. Gil Motley, in partnership with the Afterschool Activities Partnership (ASAP).

Ages: 6-18

Days/Times: Monday/Wednesday 5:30PM-7:30PM (Grades 4 and up). Fridays 4PM-6PM (All Ages)
